Anxiety

If you're feeling anxious and concerned about managing anxiety you're not alone. Many of our clients come to Oregon Counseling for help with intrusive thoughts, pervasive worry as well as physical symptoms like gastrointestinal distress and insomnia related to anxiety. Our therapists take a number of different approaches to anxiety management, but all of them are based on a belief that anxiety CAN be managed if not halted. When confronted with anxiety or excessive worry, the natural, human thing to do is to try to stop it -- but the nature of anxiety is 'paradoxical' -- the more you try to stop it, the more it takes control of you.

At Oregon Counseling, our approach focuses on developing an authentic presence of mind, that seeks to conquer anxiety by giving into it. It may sound scary but the secret to managing anxiety is to find ways to embrace it (and realize that you can likely manage it better than you give yourself credit). Like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, we believe that you possess the 'ruby slippers' or the ability to manage your anxiety better than you think. That said, we do realize that sometimes, people need an extra bit of help managing a crisis. By also offering medication and psychiatric prescribing services, we work to match the needs of all of our clients. If you are experiencing anxiety, panic or symptoms of OCD, please call us today to set up an appointment.
